"The wilderness is still the finest place to train servant leaders because it is a non-neutral learning environment which demands change, and fosters community, trust, and interdependence. The wilderness encourages wholeness, reminds us of what is true and real and affords us an opportunity like no other to encounter God as He is without distraction." Tim Hansel, Holy Sweat

Join the Spring and Summer Team!
We have a diverse staff team coming from Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship groups, churches, universities, colleges and various professions - both young and old! Some staff bring with them the “hard skills” of camping, canoeing, sailing, archery, art & crafts, swimming, climbing, kayaking, and music. Other staff are particularly strong in the “soft skills” of leading small groups and Bible studies, organization, and adventure debriefing. Of equal importance are staff who are skilled in food services, maintenance, office work, and medical services. Most of the positions are volunteer; others offer a modest salary.
All potential staff and volunteers must complete the application process. Our 2013 staff application process will be available in the new year. Please contact the office if you have any questions: mpc@pioneercamp.com References:
All references should be listed on your on-line staff application. New staff need 3 references, returning staff need one reference. Please use the following reference form only if an email address is not available to send an electronic reference to. All references are confidential and must be mailed directly to the camp office by the referee. Staff Reference form
Screening: Successful applicants will require acceptable police checks. Police checks are processed through local/regional police departments/jurisdictions. The requirements are the same regardless of location. Some jurisdictions require volunteers to pay; others do not. Most jurisdictions have websites which will provide the forms on line; indicate the locations where they can be submitted; indicate whether or not payment is required; indicate what ID is accepted, etc. All checks must be complete before an individual arrives at camp.
Here is a summary of police check requirements and procedures for all staff and volunteers: 1. Under age 19: Criminal Records Check only (requested not required). Must be requested/obtained by an individual through the local police service.
2. Ages 19 and older: Criminal Records Check plus Vulnerable Sector Search. Must be requested/obtained by an individual through the local police service.
4. US and International: as above. Must be requested/obtained by an individual through their local police service and submitted to camp office before arriving at camp.
